The Larson Family Legacy with Voyageur Outward Bound School

David Larson was a leader and a committed advocate of the value of leadership. He and his wife Janis became changemakers for VOBS. In fact, the Larson family represents a force for VOBS past, present, and future through the generosity of the David and Janis Larson Foundation.

With David’s passing in 2014, his sons Lance and Reid partnered with Janis as trustees of the foundation and they have been incredible partners for Voyageur Outward Bound School. The Foundation has generously supported VOBS annually and established a challenge match for the endowment gift. This generous match has enabled VOBS to build one of the largest endowments in the network – to over $8M – grown from under $400,000 in 2018. The annual draw for VOBS from this endowment is now over $350,000, and that means more students, more access, more lives changed, more character, more compassion, more resilience.
